The Davallia perdurans belongs to the family Davalliaceae. It is an ephytic evergreen fern that is distributed from the foothills of the Himalayas to northern Indochina and Taiwan. It grows in dense mixed forests, epiphytically on trees and in crevices of rocks. The rhizome spreads long and creeping. Leaves are ovate or triangular-ovate, deeply pinnately divided four times. There are 10-15 pairs of pinnae, 12-16 pairs of pinnules, and the terminal lobes are short-lanceolate. Numerous sori are present, occurring at the tips of the veinlet. Its Japanese name is "細葉忍" (hosoba-shinobu). In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "小膜蓋蕨", and in Chinese, "鱗軸小膜蓋蕨" (lin zhou xiao mo gai jie).
