The Deer bush (Ceanothus integerrimus) belongs to Rhamnaceae (the Buckthorn family). It is a deciduous shrub that is native to the western United States, from Washington, Oregon, California, New Mexico, and Arizona. This shrub grows in montane chaparral and woodlands, and it can reach 1-4 m in height. The leaves are glossy, light green, lanceolate, elliptical or oblong to widely ovate in shape, and thin with an acute to obtuce tip. The white or blue and rarely pink flowers bloom in raceme clusters n April through June. The fruit is a sticky capsule about 4–5 mm in diameter.
