ヨーロッパアルプスに分布しています。標高２０００メートル未満の草地や岩の多い土地に生え、高さは１２０〜１８０センチになります。葉は掌状に深く切れ込みます。６月から８月ごろ、穂状の総状花序をだし、濃青色または暗青色、青すみれ色の花を咲かせます。花には花弁状の５個の萼片と、萼片より長い距があります。

キンポウゲ科ヒエンソウ属の多年草で、学名は Delphinium elatum。英名は Alpine larkspur。

The Alpine larkspur (Delphinium elatum) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Alps. This herb grows in meadows and stony places, to 2000 m elevation, and can reach 120-180 cm in height. The leaves are divided into fronds deep palmately. The flowers are deep or dirty blue or bluish-violet with five petal-like sepals in spike-like racemes, and bloom from June to August. The spurs are longer than sepals.
