パプアニューギニアが原産です。着生植物で、標高１０００〜２０００メートルの山地に生えています。 垂れ下がった茎は宿主の木をしっかりと抱き締め、小さな重なり合った葉が植物にマットのような外観を与えます。花序は茎頂の近くからでて、４〜１０個の花を１年中咲かせます。 個々の花はふつう１センチの長さで、数週間咲き続きます。

The Dendrobium dichaeoides belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to the island of New Guinea. This herb is a epiphyte and grows in the mountain at altitudes of between 1000 and 2000 m. The pendent stems tightly hug their host tree where their small, overlapping leaves give the plants a mat-like appearance. The inflorescences are produced from near the apex of the cane and bloom 4-10 flowers throughout the year. The individual flowers are typically about 1 cm long and last for several weeks.
