フォルモースム種（Dendrobium formosum）とインフンディブルム種（Dendrobium infundibulum）を交配して、わが国で作出されました。デンドロビウム・ノビルタイプに似ていますが、バルブの表面に黒色の短い毛がたくさん生えるのが特徴です。冬と初夏に大輪の白い花を咲かせます。寒さにも強く、栽培しやすい品種です。写真下の品種は「ハワイアンキング（cv. Hawaiian King）」。

ラン科セッコク属の常緑多年草で、学名は Dendrobium formidible。英名はありません。

The Dendrobium formidible belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that was produced in Japan by mating the Dendrobium formosum and the Dendrobium infundibulum. It is similar to the Dendrobium nobile type, but characterized by a large number of short black hairs on the surface of the bulb. Large white flowers come in winter and early summer. It is a variety that is resistant to the cold and easy to cultivate. The variety below the photo is "Hawaiian King".
