ヒマラヤからタイの高地に分布するノビル種（Dendorobium nobile）をもとに交配された品種群です。着生ランで、高さは３０〜５０センチほどになります。茎は太く、直立します。葉は丸みを帯びた長楕円形です。１２月から５月ごろ、上部の節にカラフルな花を咲かせます。ふつうに「デンドロビウム」といえば、このノビル系の品種を指します。

The Dendrobium orchid (Dendorobium nobile cv.) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is a cultivar group bred based on the Dendorobium nobile distributed from Himalayan to the highlands of Thailand. It is an epiphytic orchid, and the height is about 30 to 50 cm. The stem is thick and stands upright. The leaves are rounded oblong. From December to May, colorful flowers come in the upper nodes. Usually, "Dendrobium" refers to this Nobile variety.
