熱帯アメリカが原産の観葉植物です。長楕円形の葉に、白色や黄色の斑が入ります。多くの園芸品種が作出されています。写真上・中１の品種は「カミラ（D. cv. Camilla）」。茎を傷つけると乳液がでますが有毒です。

サトイモ科ディフェンバキア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Dieffenbachia cv.。英名は Dumb cane。

The Dumb cane (Dieffenbachia cv.) belongs to Araceae (the Arum family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to the tropical America. It is an ornamental foliage plant and the many cultivars have been raised. The leaves are oblong and variegated with white or yellow mottles. The toxic white saps ooze when the branches are injured.
