The Diflugossa colorata belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed to Yunnan in China, the eastern Himalayas and the Kashi Hills of India. It is an erect, branchy plant, and can reach 1-1.5 m in height. The leaves are lanceolate, usually 9-13 cm long, 5-8.5 cm wide, with petioles usually 3.5 cm long. They have usually 6 pairs of lateral veins. The flowers are tublar, about 3 cm long, magenta, and bloom in the loose panicles. It is also called "Furiwake-sango-bana" in Japanese name.
