The Malayan urn vine (Dischidia major) belongs Apocynaceae (the Dogbane family). It is an evergreen vine that is distributed from tropical Asia to northern Queensland, Australia. It grows in moist tropical biomes, and wraps around the branches and trunks of decaying trees. The leaves are either circular and fleshy, with a diameter of around 2 cm, or elliptic and hollow, with a length of around 12 cm. The bag-shaped fronds are impounding fronds, and are yellowish-green on the outside and purple on the inside. They also have roots inside, which absorb water and nutrients, and ants often live in these roots. The flowers are yellow-green or yellow-green striped tubular flowers, and 1 to 6 of them bloom in an umbel. The fruit is a horn-shaped capsule, and the seeds are dispersed by ants.
