アメリカの中南部、テキサス州南東部からメキシコ北部のタマウリパス州（Tamaulipas）に分布しています。乾燥した地域に生え、平たい群落を形成します。茎は緑色の球状で、直径５〜６センチになります。中棘は黄色を帯び１個、縁棘は１２〜１４個あり針状で白色から淡黄色です。花は直径６センチほどで、鮮やかな黄色です。園芸上は「はごろも（羽衣）」と呼ばれます。 |

The Longmamma nipple cactus (Dolichothele sphaerica) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen perennial herbacious plant that is distributed southeast Texas in the United States south into Tamaulipas in northern Mexico. This cactus grows in arid areas and forms flat clusters. Stems are globular, medium green, 5-6 cm in diameter. Central spine is one, yellowish and radial spines are 12-14, needle like whitish to pale yellow. Flowers are bright yellow, 6 cm in diameter. |
