アフリカの東部が原産です。高さは２〜３メートルほどになります。葉は大きな卵形で、掌状に３〜５浅裂し、柔らかい毛に被われます。春に枝先の葉腋から大きな花序をだし、芳香のある白色または淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。 |

アオギリ科ドムベヤ属の常緑低木で、学名は Dombeya tiliacea。英名は Tropical snowball。 |

The Tropical snowball (Dombeya tiliacea) belongs to the family Sterculiaceae. It is a small evergreen tree that is native to eastern Africa. It grows to a height of 2-3 m. The leaves are large, ovate, palmately lobed with 3 to 5 shallow lobes and covered with soft hairs. In spring, large inflorescences emerge from the leaf axils at the ends of branches, producing fragrant white or pale pink flowers. |
