The Rasp fern (Doodia australis) belongs to the family Blechnaceae. It is an evergreen perennial fern that is distributed from Australia to New Zealand. It grows in coastal areas and lowlands, reaching a height of 20 to 60 cm. The rhizome spreads by stolons. The leaves do not show marked dimorphism. The frond blade is lanceolate, with once-pinnately lobed to once-pinnately compound fronds. The petioles are short, black, and bear tuberculate projections. The sori are oblong, arranged in 1-2 rows on either side of the midrib of the pinnules.
