スズラン属は一属一種で、わが国や朝鮮半島に分布する「すずらん」はその変種です。花壇などで栽培されているのは，ヨーロッパ原産の「ドイツすずらん」です。４月から５月ごろ、真っ白なベル形の花を咲かせます。花が葉と同じ高さで咲くのが特徴です。

The Lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis var. majalis) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is the only species in the genus Convallaria. The Lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis var. keiskei) distributed in Japan and the Korean Peninsula is a variety of it. The Lily of the valley native to Europe is cultivated in flower beds. The white bell-shaped flowers come in April to May. The feature is that the flowers bloom at the same height as the leaves.
