ドラカエナ・フラグランス [Index] [Back] 熱帯アフリカ、スーダンからモザンビークに分布しています。標高６００〜２２５０メートルの高原地帯に生え、高さは１５メートルほどになります。成長は遅く、ふつうは基部で分枝します。葉は光沢のある緑色で披針形、ふつうは下垂します。秋の終わりから初冬にかけて、白色からピンク色で芳香のある花を、円錐花序に咲かせます。果実は、直径１〜２センチほどの橙赤色の液果です。 リュウゼツラン科リュウケツジュ属の常緑低木で、学名は Dracaena fragrans。英名は Cornstalk dracaena。 The cornstalk dracaena (Dracaena fragrans) belongs to Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native throughout tropical Africa, from Sudan south to Mozambique. This tree grows in upland regions at 600-2,250 m altitude, and it can reach up to 15 m in height. It is a slow growing shrub, usually multistemmed at the base. The leaves are glossy green, lanceolate, and usually drooping. The white to pink, fragrant flowers bloom in the panicles from late fall to early winter.
