ドリミオプシス・マクラタ [Index] [Back] アフリカの東部、タンザニアから南アフリカに分布しています。砂漠や乾燥した潅木帯に生え、高さは３０センチほどになります。葉は三角状で多肉質、長さ９センチほどで、１０センチほどの葉柄がつきます。この緑色の葉には、小さな不規則な濃紫黒色の斑点があります。春に花茎を伸ばして穂状の総状花序をだし、小さな緑白色の花を咲かせます。  ユリ科ドリミオプシス属の常緑多年草で、学名は Drimiopsis maculata (syn. Ledebouria petiolata)。英名は Little white soldiers、African false hosta。  The Little white soldiers (Drimiopsis maculata) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in eastern Africa, from Tanzania to South Africa. It grows in deserts and dry shrublands and is about 30 cm tall. The leaves are triangular and fleshy, about 9 cm long, with a petiole about 10 cm long. These green leaves have small irregular dark purple-black spots.
