The Little white soldiers (Drimiopsis maculata) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in eastern Africa, from Tanzania to South Africa. It grows in deserts and dry shrublands and is about 30 cm tall. The leaves are triangular and fleshy, about 9 cm long, with a petiole about 10 cm long. These green leaves have small irregular dark purple-black spots. In spring, the flower stalks grow out to form spike-like racemes, which produce small greenish-white flowers.
