南アフリカの西ケープ州、ケープタウン北東部とバインスクルーフにだけ分布しています。海岸山地の泥炭質の湿地などに生え、高さは６０センチほどになります。食虫植物として知られています。葉は線状披針形で多くの腺毛が生え、長さは５０センチほどに伸びます。夏、花茎を伸ばして散形花序をつけ、直径４センチほどの濃いピンク色の花を咲かせます。

モウセンゴケ科モウセンゴケ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Drosera regia。英名は King sundew。

The King sundew (Drosera regia) belongs to Droseraceae (the Sundew family). It is an evergreen perennial herbacious plant that is distributed to the northeastern Cape Town and Bainskloof of Western Cape Province, South Africa. This herb grows in the peaty swamps on the coastal mountains and can reach about 60 cm in height. And this is known a carnivorous plant. Leaves are linear-lanceolate with many glandular hairs and can exceed 50 cm in length. In summer, umbels of dark pink flowers about 4 cm wide are seen on the long flower stalks.
