This specimen is described as an affinis to Dickia ibiramensis. An affinis refers to an organism that closely resembles another in appearance and morphology but is likely an undescribed species.

Incidentally, Dickia ibiramensis is native to the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. It grows on rocky outcrops along the Itajai do Norte River, forming dense, large, mat-like colonies. The leaves are narrow and triangular, with stiff spines. In late spring or during austral summer, it extends a flower stalk and produces yellow, tubular flowers. The specific epithet is derived from the city of Ibirama, where it is found.
