南アメリカのブラジルからアルゼンチンに分布しています。多肉植物で茎がなく、地生するアナナス類です。高さは４５センチほどになります。葉は硬くて棘が多く、ロゼットを形成します。夏に長さ３０センチほどの穂状花序をだし、黄色から黄橙色の花をいっぱい咲かせます。園芸上では「しまけんざん（縞剣山）」と呼ばれます。

The Sawblade (Dyckia brevifolia) belongs to Bromeliaceae (the Bromeliad family). It is an evergreen succulent perennial that is native to Brazil and Argentina. This plant is a terrestrial and stemless bromeliad, can reach about 45 cm in height. Leaves are rigid and spiny, form in a rosette. Many yellow to sulfur-orange flowers are born in spikes about 30 cm long in summer.
