The "Takane-hansho-zuru" (Clematis lasiandra) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed westward from the Kinki region of Honshu to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, and Taiwan. It grows on the edge of forests in the mountains and is vine-like and entwined with other trees. The leaves are 2 times triternate compound and the ovate leaflets have serrations. From August to October, bell-shaped pale magenta flowers come from the axils. The fruits are achene and have feather-like hairs. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "小木通".
