世界中の温帯から熱帯地域に広く分布している「かたばみ」の一品種です。わが国では本州の中南部で見ることができます。畑や道端などにふつうに生え、茎が直立するのが特徴です。５月から９月ごろ、黄色い花を咲かせます。花や朔果には、「かたばみ」との形態的な相違はありません。

カタバミ科カタバミ属の多年草で、学名は Oxalis corniculata f. erecta。英名は Yellow sorrel。

The Yellow sorrel (Oxalis corniculata f. erecta) belongs to Oxalidaceae (the Wood sorrel family). It is a perennial herb that is a form of "Yellow sorrel" (Oxalis corniculata) that is widely distributed in temperate and tropical regions around the world. This herb can be found in central-southern Honshu of Japan. It grows in dry fields or roadsides, and defined by erect stems. The yellow flowers come in May to September. There is not morphologic disparity between this form and "Yellow sorrel".
