The Globe Chinese juniper (Juniperus chinensis cv. Globosa) belongs to Cupressaceae (the Cypress family). It is a tall evergreen tall that is a horticultural variety of "Chinese juniper" that is native to the Pacific coast of Japan -from Iwate Prefecture southward on Honshu- as well as Shikoku, Kyushu, the Korean Peninsula, and China. It grows to a height of 50 to 100 cm and is characterized by its spherical shape. Although it is a hardy plant, it prefers full sun; in partial shade, its growth suffers, and its branches and leaves become sparse.
