The Taraxacum minimum belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed along the Mediterranean coast. It grows in light shrublands, forest slopes, mountain meadows and dolines (sinkhole), and is about 13 cm tall. The leaves are shallowly divided, with triangular lobes and obtuse heads. Yellow flower heads, about 3 cm in diameter, bloom from April to June and from October to November. The fruit is a straw-colored achene.
