ヨーロッパの南東部に分布しています。標高５００〜２０００メートルの草地や岩礫地に生え、高さは１０〜４０センチになります。葉は線形で青緑色です。６月から８月ごろ、淡いピンク色から白色の花を咲かせます。花弁には不規則な切れ込みがあります。多くの園芸品種が作出されています。写真の品種は「ベルベットンレース（cv. Velvet'n Lace）」。

ナデシコ科ナデシコ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Dianthus plumarius。英名は Pink、Cottage pink、Feathered pink。

The Pink (Dianthus plumarius) belongs to Caryophyllaceae (the Carnation family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to southeastern Europe. This herb grows in grasslands and on rocks 500-2000 m elevation and can reach 10-40 cm in height. The leaves are linear and blue-green. The pale pink to white fragrant flowes come in June to August. The petals are laciniate. There are many cultivars. The photos are a cultivar 'Velvet'n Lace'.
