The Brightblue speedwell (Veronica serpyllifolia spp. humifusa) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Hokkaido and Oze Marshland, the Northern Alps, the Yatsugatake Mountains, Mt. Shichimen in Honshu, Japan, and the north part of Northern Hemisphere. This herb grows in upper montane to sub-alpine zone and can reach 10-30 cm in height. The base of stem crawls on the ground and spreads. The cauline leaves are round and have prominent three veins. The small pale blue-purple flowers bloom in the clusters atop of stems from June to August.
