The Bigflower tellima (Tellima grandiflora) belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the western part of North America, from Alaska and British Columbia to northern California. It is the only species in the genus Tellima. It grows on rocks in damp forests and is 30 to 60 cm tall. The leaves are round with shallow lobes and serrations along the edges. The leaf surface is sparsely covered in hairs. In April and May, it produces long scapes with flowers at the tip in a raceme. The flowers are five-petaled, and are greenish-white to purple, and deeply parted into fronds.
