てまりかんぼく (手毬肝木) [Index] [Back] 「かんぼく（肝木）」の一品種です。「おおでまり（大手毬）」のように手毬咲き（花序全体が装飾花）で、鑑賞用に栽培されます。５月から６月に咲き、花序は球形で、直径１４センチほどになります。葉は３裂して、葉柄には蜜腺があります。  スイカズラ科ガマズミ属の落葉低木で、学名は Viburnum opulus var. calvescens f. hydrangeoides。英名は Snowball bush。  The Snowball bush (Viburnum opulus var. calvescens f. hydrangeoides) belongs to Caprifoliaceae (the Honeysuckle family). It is a small deciduous tree that is a form of the Guelder rose (Viburnum opulus var. calvescens). It is temari ball-flowered (consist only of neuter flowers), like Japanese snowball, and grown for ornamental purpose. It blooms from May to June, and the inflorescence is spherical and 14 cm in diameter.
