The Snowball bush (Viburnum opulus var. calvescens f. hydrangeoides) belongs to Caprifoliaceae (the Honeysuckle family). It is a small deciduous tree that is a form of the Guelder rose (Viburnum opulus var. calvescens). It is temari ball-flowered (consist only of neuter flowers), like Japanese snowball, and grown for ornamental purpose. It blooms from May to June, and the inflorescence is spherical and 14 cm in diameter. The leaves are divided into three lobes, and the petiole has nectaries.
