ヨーロッパの南東部、ギリシャが原産です。山地帯から亜高山帯の岩礫地に生え、高さは５〜１０センチになります。全体に白い軟毛に被われます。葉は卵形から倒卵形で互生します。夏、淡い青紫色の花を咲かせます。

シソ科ニガクサ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Teucrium aroanium。英名は Gray creeping germander。

|
The Gray creeping germander (Teucrium aroanium) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to Greece, in the southeastern part of Europe. It grows from mountainous areas to subalpine conglomerates and can reach 5 to 10 cm in height. It is covered all over with white vellus hair. The leaves alternate from ovate to obovate. The pale bluish-purple flowers come in summer.
