アメリカの西部、ユタ州からカリフォルニア州、テキサス州にかけて分布しています。山地帯から亜高山帯の草地や林縁に生え、高さは６０〜１５０センチになります。葉は「おだまき（苧環）」に似た３出複葉です。５月から８月ごろ、淡緑白色または淡紫白色の花を咲かせます。花弁のように見えるのは萼片です。房飾りのような雄しべが目立ちます。

キンポウゲ科カラマツソウ属の多年草で、学名は Thalictrum fendleri。英名は Fendler's meadowrue、Meadow rue。

The Fendler's meadowrue (Thalictrum fendleri) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the western United States, from Utah to California and Texas. It grows from mountainous areas to subalpine grasslands and forest edges, and can reach heights of 60 to 150 cm. The leaves are three-lobed compound similar to "Columbine". The pale greenish white or pale purple-white flowers come in May to August. It is the calyx that looks like a petal. Stamens like tufts stand out.
