The Santa Inez goldenbanner (Thermopsis macrophylla) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed in California and Oregon in the western United States. It grows in grasslands and bushes of shrubs, and can reach a height of 30 to 200 cm. The leaves are three-lobed compound leaves, and the leaflets are lanceolate to ovate, with short white hairs and a grayish green color. From April to June, racemes are borne and yellow papillionaceous flowers come in bloom.
