熱帯アフリカの西部が原産です。高さは１〜２メートルになります。葉は卵形で、わずかに浅く３裂します。ほとんど一年中、葉腋に濃い紫青色の花を咲かせます。中心部の咽は濃い黄色、花筒の部分は白色です。「こだちやはずかずら（Thunbergia erecta）」に極めて似ています。葉のかたちが異なるとの記述もありますが、ほとんど相違は認められません。

キツネノマゴ科ツンベルギア属の常緑小低木で、学名は Thunbergia vogeliana。英名はありません。

The Thunbergia vogeliana belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to the western part of tropical Africa. This shrub grows up to a height of 1-2 m. The leaves are ovate, slightly shallow lobed. Almost all the year round, deep purplish blue flowers bloom on the axils. The throat is deep yellow, the part of the corolla tube is white. It is very similar to "Thunbergia erecta". Although there is description that the shape of the leaves is different, almost no difference is recognized.
