"Chishima-kimbai" belongs to Roseaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is native from Hokkaido in Japan to Siberia and North America. This herb grows in coastal rocky sites and the tundra areas, and can reach 5-25 cm in height. The basal leaves are trifoliate compound, thick, distinguish veining, and covered with wooly hairs. The yellow flowers bloom from June to August.
