メキシコ南部のオアハカ州やベラクルス州が原産です。オークやパインオークなどの林に生え、高さは１８〜２４センチになります。葉は針状で灰色です。赤色の穂状花序に紫色の筒状花を咲かせます。

パイナップル科ハナアナナス属の常緑多年草で、学名は Tillandsia chaetophylla。英名はありません。

The Tillandsia chaetophylla belongs to Bromeliaceae (the Pineapple family). It is an evergreen herb that is endemic to the states of Oaxaca and Veracruz in southern Mexico. This herb grows in the forests of oak and pine-oak, and can reach 18-24 cm in height. The leaves are needle-like and gray. It blooms a purple tubular flowers in red spike.
