The Tillandsia stricta belongs to Bromeliaceae (the Pineapple family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to South America and Trinidad. It is a clump-forming, epiphyte forming dense rosettes of narrowly triangular, tapering, green to grayish-green leaves. As it is a type of airplants, it absorbs moisture from the air with its leaves. It produces conical inflorescences in the summer. They droop over with pale bluish purple, tubular flowers emerging from the bright pinkish-red bracts.
