"Chichippa-benkei" (Hylotelephium sordidum) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native northward from Chubu district of Honshu in Japan. This herb grows on rocks and trees in mountains of the region of heavy snow, and it can reach 20-30 cm in height. The leaves are carnose, broad elliptic to ovate-round, and green tinged with purplish brown. The pale yellowish green flowers bloom in September to October.
