わが国の固有種で、四国の徳島県と高知県に局所的に分布しています。深山の湿った岩上や岩壁に生え、高さは２０〜３０センチになります。根茎は横に這います。葉は長楕円状卵形から卵形で、縁は３〜４浅裂し、欠刻状の鋭い鋸歯があります。葉の両面には白色の毛と短い腺毛が生えます。４月から５月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして、先端の総状花序に花を咲かせます。花は紅紫色で、羽状に細く７裂します。

ユキノシタ科チャルメルソウ属の多年草で、学名は Mitella yoshinagae (syn. Asimitellaria yoshinagae)。英名はありません。

The "Tosano-charumeru-so" (Mitella yoshinagae) belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan and locally distributed in Tokushima and Kochi prefectures in Shikoku. It grows on damp rocks and rock walls in deep mountains and grows 20 to 30 cm tall. The rhizome crawls horizontally. The leaves are oblong-ovate to ovate with 3 or 4 shallow lobed margins and indented sharp serrations. The leaves are covered with white hairs and short glandular hairs on both sides. The flowers are reddish-purple with seven narrow pinnate lobes.
