中国の中東部から中南部、江蘇省から四川省・雲南省に分布しています。丘陵や河岸の潅木帯、林縁などに生え、高さは１〜３メートルになります。葉は卵形から披針形、狭披針形で対生し、縁は全縁または粗い波状の鋸歯があります。４月から１０月ごろ、枝先に穂状に近い集散花序をだし、紫色の筒状花を咲かせます。「ふじうつぎ」に似ていますが、葉や果実の大きさが半分くらいしかありません。

フジウツギ科フジウツギ属の落葉低木で、学名は Buddleja lindleyana。英名は Lindley's butterfly bush。

The Lindley's butterfly bush (Buddleja lindleyana) belongs to Buddlejaceae (the Butterfly bush family). It is a small deciduous tree that is native to central-east and central-south China, from Jiangsu to Sichuan and Yunnan. This tree grows in hills, scrubby areas along stream or woodland margines and can reach 1-3 m in height. The leaves are ovate to lanceolate, narrow-lanceolate, opposite and entire or coarse wavy toothed. The spicate-cymes are borne at terminal twigs and the purple tubular flowers bloom from April to October. It looks like Japanese buddleja, though it is defined by about half size of leaf and fruit compared to Japanese buddleja.
