とらのおすずかけ (虎の尾鈴懸) [Index] [Back] わが国の四国南部から九州、それに中国の南部に分布しています。林内などに生え、高さは７０〜１５０センチになります。葉は卵形から長楕円形状卵形で先端は尖り、互生します。また縁には三角状の鋸歯があります。８月から９月ごろ、葉腋に短い円錐花序をだし、淡紅紫色の小さな花を咲かせます。果実は扁平な卵円形で、長さは３ミリほどの�刮ﾊです。 ゴマノハグサ科クガイソウ属の多年草で、学名は Veronicastrum axillare。英名はありません。 "Toranoo-suzukake" (Veronicastrum axillare) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is native to southern Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as southern China. This herb grows in forests, and it can reach 70-150 cm in height. The leaves are ovate to oblong-ovate with acute tips, and arranged in alternate. They have deltoid toothed edges. The short panicles are borne at the axils and bloom pale magenta, small flowers from August to September.
