"Tosa-torafu-dake" (Phyllostachys nigra var. tosaensis) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is an evergreen bamboo that is distributed only in Awa, Susaki City, Kochi Prefecture in Shikoku, Japan. It is a variety of "Hachiku", similar to "Hachiku", but with brown tiger spots on the surface of the culum. This plaque is said to be formed by parasites rather than physiological. It is used for construction and crafts.
