南アフリカの東ケープ州に分布しています。おもに亜熱帯のバイオームに生え、高さは１０センチほどになります。メセン類に分類される塊根性の多肉植物で、マット状に広がります。葉は肉厚で硬い毛が生え、茎は木質がします。晩冬にピンク色の花を咲かせます。園芸上は「紫晃星（しこうせい）」と呼ばれます。

ツルナ科トリコディアデマ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Trichodiadema densum。英名は Miniature desert rose。

The Miniature desert rose (Trichodiadema densum) belongs to Aizoaceae (the Ice plant family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It grows mainly in subtropical biomes and is about 10 cm tall. It is a caudex succulent classified as a Messem, spreading in mats. The leaves are thick and stiffly hairy, and the stems are woody. It produces pink flowers in late winter. Horticulturally, it is called "Shikousei" in Japan.
