南アメリカのボリビアからチリ、アンデス山脈中部に分布しています。山地の斜面に生え、蔓性で長さは１メートルほどになります。葉は掌状複葉で、倒卵形の小葉が５〜７個つきます。夏に小さな黄色い花を咲かせます。萼片は赤色で先端部が黒く、距があります。

ノウゼンハレン科キンレンカ属の蔓性多年草で、学名は Tropaeolum tricolor。英名は Bolivian nasturtium、Chupa chupa。

The Bolivian nasturtium (Tropaeolum tricolor) belongs to Tropaeolaceae (the Nasturtium family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Bolivia to Chile and the central Andes in South America. It grows on the slopes of the mountains and is vine-like and about 1 m long. The leaves are palmately compound with 5 to 7 obovate leaflets. The small yellow flowers come in summer. The calyx of the corolla is red, with a black tip and a spur.
