アメリカの西南部、アリゾナ州からニューメキシコ州、メキシコ北部にかけて分布しています。湿り気のある半日陰の岩礫地に生え、高さは２５〜５０センチになります。葉は心形から腎形で、浅い切れ込みがあります。３月から１０月ごろ、細い花茎を伸ばして、小さなベル形の緋色の花を咲かせます。園芸品種も数多く作出されています。

ユキノシタ科ツボサンゴ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Heuchera sanguinea。英名は Coral bells。

The coral bells (Heuchera sanguinea) belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is an perennial herb that is distributed from the southwestern part of the United States, Arizona to New Mexico and northern Mexico. This herb grows in damps, semi-shade rocky gravels and has a height of 25-50 cm. It will extend thin flower stalks and blooms small bell-shaped scarlet flowers from March to October. Many cultural varieties have been created.
