わが国の本州、関東地方以西から四国・九州、それに朝鮮半島に分布しています。山地帯から亜高山帯の湿り気の多いところに生え、高さは１０〜２０センチになります。ランナーを出して広がります。葉は３出複葉で、長い柄があります。４月から６月ごろ、花茎の先に黄色い５弁花を咲かせます。

バラ科キジムシロ属の多年草で、学名は Potentilla yokusaiana。英名はありません。

"Tsuru-kinbai" (Potentilla yokusaiana) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed westward from Kanto district of Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu of Japan, as well as the Korean Penisula. This herb grows in montane to sub-alpine marshes and can reach 10-20 cm height. The leaves are trifoliate with long petioles. The plant spreads by stolons. The yellow 5-petals flowers appear on the flowering stalks from April to June.
