つきぬきおぐるま (突抜小車) [Index] [Back] 北アメリカの東・中部に分布しています。プレーリーや明るい林、河岸などに生え、高さは１．２〜２．４メートルになります。葉は楕円形で鋸歯があり、対生します。上部の基部は合着してカップ状になります。頭花は直径５〜７．５センチで、黄色または淡黄色の舌状花が１８〜４０個つきます。花は７月から９月ごろに咲きます。 「つくば実験植物園」での表記は、「しかくひまわり（Tetragonotheca helianthoides）」。 キク科シルフィウム属の多年草で、学名は Silphium perfoliatum。英名は Cup plant。 The Cup plant (Silphium perfoliatum) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to eastern and central parts of North America. It grows in prairies, open woodlands, on stream banks, and can reach 1.2-2.4 m in height. The stems are four-angled. The leaves are elliptic, toothed, and arranged in opposite. The bases of upper leaves are united in a cup. The flower-heads are 5-7.5 cm across with 18-40 yellow or pale yellow ray florets. They bloom from July to September.
