アフガニスタンからイラン、イラクが原産です。山地の斜面に生え、高さは３０〜４０センチになります。葉は濃緑色の細い紐状です。花冠はカップ形で、日が当たると平開します。花弁の内側は黄色く、外側は赤橙色です。写真中１〜中５は、園芸品種の「ティンカ（cv. Tinka）」。

ユリ科チューリップ属の多年草で、学名は Tulipa clusiana var. chrysantha。英名は Lady tulip、Candlestick tulip。

The Lady tulip (Tulipa clusiana var. chrysantha) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native from Afghanistan to Iran and Iraq. This herb grows in the slopes of mountains and can reach 30-40 cm in height. Leaves are slendar and dark green. The collora is cup-shaped and open flatly when getting the sun. The petal is orange-red on outside, yellow on inside. The 2nd to 6th of the photo are the gardening varieties 'Tinka'.
