タンブルウィード (回転草) [Index] [Back] 「タンブルウィード（回転草）」は「ロシアあざみ（ロシア薊）」とも呼ばれるオカヒジキ属の植物群です。中央アジアや南西アジア、北アフリカや地中海沿岸に分布しています。ほとんどが小低木や低木で、まれに一年草があります。一般にはステップや乾燥地帯、塩性地などに生えます。このオカヒジキ属のなかの数種の一年草が、北アメリカではかなり普及しています。「タンブルウィード（回転草）」は、一度成熟して枯れた地上部が、根から外れて風に乗り、コロコロと転がります。西部劇にお馴染みのシンボルです。 アカザ科オカヒジキ属の植物群で、学名は Salsola sp.（属の総称）。英名は Tumbleweed、Saltwort、Russian thistle。 The Tumbleweed (Salsola sp.) is a plant group of the Salsola genus in the Amaranthaceae family. It is also called Saltwort or Russian thistle. The genus is distributed in Central Asia and Southwest Asia, North Africa and the Mediterranean. They are mostly shrubs and small trees, rarely annuals. They grows commonly in steppe, desert climates or saline areas. The several annual species of Salsola have become so common in North America.
