"Tsume-renge" (Orostachys japonicus) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed from Kanto region of Honshu west to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. This herb rows on rocks and roofs in warm regions, and is about 15 cm high. The leaves are fleshy and rosette-shaped, with needle-shaped tips. From September to November, the flower stalks are borne to form racemes and white flowers bloom. After flowering, the plant withers, but a short stolon is produced to make a small plant.
