The "Tsukushi-mikaeri-so" (Leucosceptrum stellipilum var. tosaensis) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a deciduous shrub that is distributed to the Kii Peninsula, Chugoku region of Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. It grows on forest floors and forest edges in mountainous areas and grows 40 to 60 cm tall. It is a variant of the "Mikaeri-so". It has large, broadly ovate leaves with long petioles. From September to October, it produces racemes at the ends of its stems and produces light red, labiate flowers. It is also called "Oo-marubano-tennin-so" in Japan.
