わが国の本州、近畿地方以北から北海道、それに四国に分布しています。山地の谷沿いの湿地に生え、高さは５〜１５センチになります。走出枝（ランナー）をだし、先端に子株をつけて広がります。茎葉は円形で鋸歯があり、互生します。４月から５月ごろ、小さな淡黄緑色の花を咲かせます。萼裂片は平開します。

ユキノシタ科ネコノメソウ属の多年草で、学名は Chrysosplenium flagelliferum。英名はありません。

"Tsuru-nekonome-so" (Chrysosplenium flagelliferum) belongs to Saxifragaceae (the Saxifrage family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Shikoku to northward from Kinki district of Honshu, and Hakkaido in Japan. This herb grows in montane streamside marches and can reach 5-15 cm in height. It bears runners and spreads by new seedlings. The cauline leaves are round with toothed edges and alternate. The small pale yellowish-green flowers appear from April to May. The calyx lobes spreads out.
