アメリカの東・南部、コネチカット州からフロリダ州それにテキサス州にかけて分布しています。蔓性で長さは３〜５メートルになります。楕円形の葉は対生しますが、花序のすぐ下の葉だけは合着して、花序が突き抜けているように見えます。５月から９月ごろ、紅色の筒状花を咲かせます。庭木や生垣などに植栽されています。

スイカズラ科スイカズラ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Lonicera sempervirens。英名は Trumpet honeysuckle。

The trumpet honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens) belongs to Caprifoliaceae (the Honeysuckle family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed to the eastern and southern United States; southward from Connecticut to Florida, west to Texas. This shrub is a long trailing vine and can reach 3-5 m long. The leaves are elliptic and opposite, thought the leaves beneath flowering cluster are connate, and the flowering cluster seems to shoot out of the leaves. Rose-pink tubular flowers bloom in May to September. This shrub is often planting as a garden tree or hedge.
