わが国から東南アジア、オーストラリア北部に分布しています。常緑性の地生ランで、高さは４０〜１５０センチになります。偽球茎は卵形で叢生します。葉は長楕円形で、縦方向にしわが入ります。夏から秋にかけて、長い花茎を伸ばして、白色から淡クリーム色の花を咲かせます。花冠には、中心に黄色から赤色の突起があります。

ラン科エビネ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Calanthe furcata (syn. Calanthe triplicata)。英名はありません。

"Tsuru-ran" (Calanthe furcata) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed southward from Japan to South-east Asia and northern Australia. This herb is a epyphyte and can reach 40-150 cm in height. The pseudobulbs are ovate and clumping. The leaves are oblong and wrinkled longitudially. The white to pale cream flowers bloom on the long flowering stalks from summer to fall. The corolla has a yellow to red projection at the center.
